The Kooks rocked the stage on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno Oct. 29, while the audience screamed.

Despite how young they are (the oldest member is 21 and they started this stuff in their early teens) the Kooks have gone a long way in cementing their place in musical history. They’ve gained rabid followings in Britain, and now in the United States fans are starting to ring around them. I see a number one hit in their near future.
The Kooks mix together a ska influence with indie rock and pop to create a simmering stew. Luke Pritchard, the frontman, adds a characteristic yelp to many songs. Their songs are wound tight, hanging the listener in suspense. It’s pop-rock at its finest.
