Hello programming friends, Andy Gesner and the HIP Video promo staff here with a brand new clip from the superstar duo that has been on the tip of everyone’s tongue over the past year, She & Him. She & Him are no strangers to both the Hollywood red carpet and the rock and roll stage, featuring songstress/actress Zooey Deschanel and producer extraordinaire M. Ward. The doublet return with a spectacular new video off their popular and critically acclaimed releaseVolume II titled “Don’t Look Back.”

She & Him are known for playing around with history and travelling back in time for inspiration, whether it’s their vintage sound or, in this case, their retro-futuristic music video. The clip is introduced as a glimpse into the world of tomorrow as it was imagined in the 1950s. This, of course, results in hilarious and creative inventions that were dreamed up using the popular objects of the time, such as “mop shoes” or “portable blow up guitars.” One of the most interesting concepts is the oversized computer which is used to generate sound and music of the future using various remote controls and massive buttons. This notion isn’t too far off from the truth, maybe with the exception of the robot arms that play the keys! “Don’t Look Back” really kicks off when Zooey steps into a cloning pad and multiplies herself just in time for those sweet chorus harmonies. To finish off with a bang, our lovely heroine triggers the party button, bringing a full party of dancers to appear out of the vapors and join her in a synchronized fashion. Despite being a glance into the past, this video is shot with the most modern vivid colors and dazzling special effects, no goggles necessary.

Keeping true to their signature sound, “Don’t Look Back” has got that warm and happy vibe that all of the She & Him fans have come to adore and obsess over. Hinting back to 50s and 60s pop, the song is sprinkled with “oohs” and “aahs,” claps and taps, as well as that undeniable all-American twang guitar. She & Him know the importance of supplementing their sugary upbeat sound with nutritious and substantial lyrics, and that is the reason their fans keep coming back for more. In the most explosive moment in the chorus Deschanel proclaims the truth about over thinking the past, “Don’t look back, all you’ll ever get is the dust from the steps before.” Don’t worry though, this is one video you will never have to regret watching.

“Don’t Look Back” is the third release from She & Him’s Volume II. If it sounds familiar, it’s because you’ve probably heard the band perform it on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. The pair has had a busy year ever since the release of their second album, including many live television appearances, with the most recent being Conan’s new show on TBS. Zooey Deschanel has also recently performed “God Bless America” in the 7th inning stretch of the San Francisco Giants v. Philadelphia Phillies game in San Francisco. Volume II has been receiving continued praise by both critics and fans, including features in Rolling Stone Magazine and peak positions on several Billboard charts. The group has also been touring nonstop, selling out shows across the globe.

We are already have our jetpacks strapped and loaded for the release of this video and hope you will join us in launching this clip into the stratosphere.
