After 20 solid years of promoting music videos, many of our videos have skyrocketed to the top. Today, we present you with one of our most-watched videos on our Youtube channel.
Metropolis Records have brought us some of the most exciting industrial and electronica artists over the years, and included in that list is a group with a striking visual identity and some faces that might look familiar: Julien-K. Singer Ryan Shuck and guitarist Amir Derakh were both members of electro-rock favorites Orgy, and their executive producer was the late Chester Bennington of Linkin Park.
In fact, Bennington and his wife even made cameos in Julien-K’s video for “Kick The Bass.” Mixed by Tim Palmer (The Cure, U2, The Mission), the track continues the band’s winning streak, with squealing synthesizers, pounding drums, stinging guitars, and throbbing bass – all the while Schuck’s voice dominates. The video is an exploration of the rewards, and dangers – powder buffets, drinks, and excitement! – discussed in the song, with a twist ending. In a glitzy, decadent LA nightspot, everyone is dressed to kill.
The “Kick The Bass” video, which we promoted back in 2009, has achieved over 441k views on our YouTube channel to date! Watch it below.
Julien-K continue to release music and tour regularly, most recently they released the Time Capsule: A Future Retrospective 2004 – 2017 compilation in 2018 and the song “Harmonic Disruptor” in January of this year. On Valentine’s Day they released the “Shut Down Your Soul” video, which fans have called “one of the best things I have ever seen and heard from u guys”, “freaking epic!”, and “something to mosh to.”
