Electro-house/bass DJ NGHTMRE has been steadily releasing music for a few years now, including singles with Flux Pavillion, Dillon Francis, and the Chainsmokers, and this summer he’ll be making waves at festivals like Electric Forest and Electric Zoo. NGHTMRE’s latest is a collaboration with Shaquille O’Neal (yes, that Shaq) and Lil Jon, and it’s called “BANG.” Directed by Peter Donaghy and Will Runzel, the “BANG” video shows us a wild day in the life of a touring DJ as NGHTMRE, Shaq, and Lil Jon live it up in Miami Beach.
Moscow-based rockers Biting Elbows are known for the sheer intensity of their songs, and with filmmaker Ilya Naishuller (he directed the 2015 hit Hardcore Henry) fronting the band, their music videos, too, are cinematic masterpieces. “HEARTACHE”, the first of a pair of new videos, is romance doing Biting Elbows style: from the first frames of the clip, danger is in the air.
“CONTROL” is a rougher Biting Elbows track, and the sleek and progressive sound begs for a sci-fi treatment – and the band, as always, delivers. There’s an alien invasion here, with the extraterrestrial guests taking over human hosts in search of a good time. It’s not a typical video, but this has never been a typical band.
After telling other people’s stories through dance and theatre in front of audiences throughout the world, EMPRESS – who spent a decade performing in the San Francisco Ballet, and played the lead in the Broadway production of the Tony Award-winning show An American In Paris – is now writing her own. Grammy-nominated producer Bart Schoudel (Beyoncé, Justin Bieber) has created a hipster orchestral sound, and director Luke Willis’s clip shows EMPRESS in her true element: performing dance moves ranging from classical ballet to modern.
