It’s crazy to believe we’re more than halfway through February. The weather has been all over the place here in New Jersey recently, but today it’s in the mid-60s and we’re not complaining! We’re all in good spirits with this warm weather, and excited to show you some of the latest videos we have. The newest HIP Picks – Weekly Client Roundup video gives you the low-down on some of our current projects, and we’ll tell you a little bit about each one below.
With a prowess for both singing and dancing, Xavier Toscano stands apart from the pack in the Bay Area scene. His newest single “Never Wanna Leave” is both timeless and contemporary, with a hook-heavy vocal performance and blaring synths. The “Never Wanna Leave” video sees Toscano leading a team of dancers step-by-step, coming to a close with inspiring action on a rooftop.
With her kinetic energy and ethereal, dark-disco-pop vocal style, Beca is a force of nature in concert and in front of a camera. “In Deep Love”, the title track from her latest EP, is a dance club slow burn, offering a transcendent message of hope and comfort in difficult times. She collaborated with Jayson Martinovich of Bluemilk Images for the video, which sees Beca dressed in cherry red while dancer Kyle Thomas Shea is in all white, freestyling to the music, and her Cleopatra-esque counterpart mourns lost love while radiating the golden light of inner strength.
Pulsing and melodic, Nadia Kazmi’s music is reflective and based on life experience, with songs like letters from an old friend. “Like A Cat” is both autobiographical and metaphorical, with straight-faced songwriting reminiscent of Leonard Cohen, Patty Smith, and Bob Dylan, as well as indie heavyweights like Arcade Fire. In the “Like A Cat” video, Nadia is illuminated in deep blues and reds; though she bounces between darkness and light, she’s still haunted by the same thoughts.
Though early life circumstances threatened to knock him down, AV Super Sunshine never fails to get back up again. His latest effort Bass Face is a brilliant rock gem, but has been reimagined entirely with dance versions of every track on Bass Face Remixes. The dance remix of “Smile” has a tight bass rhythm and propulsive beat that takes this mid-tempo song to the fast lane. He’s once again partnered with director Jared Sagal for the video, which sees AV and his musical confidant Philomena serenading and engaging the camera with an abundance of big, beautiful smiley face emojis scattered in the background.
