Dance and house music has undoubtedly seen a huge resurgence in the past few years. Although it has always had a loyal fanbase and immensely talented artists, it’s mainstream popularity is surging back and we’re thrilled with the emergence of so many game-changing new artists. Over the past 12 months we’ve been privileged to work with many big names and we’ve seen just how popular this genre has become. To add to that list is Nick Fiorucci, who has been tearing up the Canadian music scene since his teenage years. His new video for the single “Back To Me” is a perfect example of his DJ skills that combines mind-rattling beats with infectious melodies and near-divine production skills that has propelled him to headlining slots at some of the world’s most notable clubs including Ministry Of Sound, Hacienda, Heaven, Sterns, Mad and many more.

The Toronto native combined his passion for music and his entrepreneurial skills from an early age. At 19, he had already become a top Toronto club DJ. After graduating with an Audio Engineering diploma, he established his first dance music label, the legendary Hi Bias Records, which to date has garnered 14 Juno nominations and one victory. In 1999, he was the youngest person to be inducted into the CanDance Hall of Fame, dedicated to the pioneers and builders of Canadian dance music. Nick also has an impressive list of international production and remix credits including Britney Spears, TLC, Brandy, Laura Pausini, ATB, Eiffel 65, Gino Vannelli, Masters At Work, just to name a few.

Here at HIP, we’re lucky to be on the receiving end of his 20+ years of experience that has brought us the brand new video for “Back To Me”. He has enlisted two standout feature artists, Shobha & Joshua J, to handle the vocal tracks, and their back and forth interplay is one that you won’t soon forget. The video begins with Fiorucci standing watch over his turntable throne like a DJ Wizard in the infernal region. A male lead is seen in a full dress suit, under Nick’s spell, and within seconds he is in full sprint and desperately trying to shed his wardrobe. We quickly understand his desire is to make his way back to female lead Shobha as we are shown footage of the two in a happier time and place. He is racing against time to find her again, but Nick seems to have a sinister agenda at hand and it’s uncertain whether he’ll reach her. Joshua J delivers some quick rhymes to keep us on our toes and complimented with Shobha’s angelic melodies it all comes together like a perfect musical puzzle.
