Hello programming pals, it’s Andy Gesner from HIP Video Promo bringing you an appropriately scorching new clip for this summer. Hot off the raging success of her rendition of “Lovesong,” JES is coming at you again with her next, soon-to-be dance hit, “Closer.” In her last video, JES proved that she can cover The Cure with respect and style. But now it’s time for her to showcase her originality and what really earned her the reputation as the Queen of Rocktronica.

Her video for “Closer” is rich with all the vibrancy that’s expected of JES. From her structured outfits to her colorful makeup and signature crystal-like eyepiece, everything about her here is extravagant. At the same time, none of this takes away from what is a killer performance video. The clip starts off with JES and her backup dancers holding long rods of light. It’s a bit of a bizarre prop until you realize it’s used to illuminate the tight choreography that ensues throughout the video. “Closer” offers a great visual of lighting, mirror and camera tricks as you see JES in different perspectives. In one frame, you even see JES at her most intimate where her makeup is bare and her hair is let down. Her presence demands attention like no other, and amidst all of the dancing and different lighting, you’ll feel like you’re in a club yourself alongside by JES.

It’s easy to see why JES is widely known as the Queen of Rocktronica. This New York native has plenty of rock star edge and is a chart topper in her genre. You’re already familiar with her background from the last time we worked with her: She’s been around for more than a decade, was a part of the group Motorcycle with DJs Gabriel and Dresden, has had guest vocals on dance tracks all over, and has worked with the renowned Paul Oakenfold and former HIP client Paul Van Dyk. Since embarking on her solo career, JES has been going full steam ahead, and she’s got the hauntingly beautiful vocals and kickin’ dance moves to prove it.

You can find the track for “Closer” on JES’ latest album, High Glow, which was released earlier this year. The album has earned JES some great recognition and peaked at No. 22 on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Albums chart. In terms of “Closer” itself, it’s bound to be a hit in the nightclubs. Just listen to the way JES purrs, “Find me a way in / I know where your soul’s been / And it’s pulling me closer.”
