Vetiver is both a band and a type of grass native to India. In India, people use vetiver to cool their houses down–apparently it absorbs moisture and acts as a kind of crazy plant air conditioner. I don’t know if a parallel can be drawn to the band here, but let me try. Vetiver the band makes cute, soft, twangy folk songs that are–umm–cool.
Vetiver has recently signed to Sub Pop and made a new album called Tight Knit, lauded for its classic rock undertones. You can here California pop, and taunt, folky guitar that might remind you of Bob Dylan. It’s gorgeous and mesmerizing.
