You may know Candyman 187 for his awesome music video for “High Off The Fame” and for being part of a hip hop collective with Tupac. However, Candyman 187 changes the rules of the hip hop game by sending one lucky student to school! The rapper announced (via Ozone Magazine) an opportunity for students nationwide to participate in a cover song contest that will result in a monetary scholarship of $3,000! The song is to be uploaded to YouTube and then voted on by fans. All submissions need to be in by October 15th and the winner will be chosen by October 31st.
“I’m really excited to hear different students’ interpretation of my song, High off the Fame,” said Candyman 187. “Music education overall is really important to me, as it allows students to express themselves in a safe, and creative way. I’m happy that I’m able to give back in a small, yet meaningful way that will hopefully inspire others to do the same.”
Participants must be students ages 13 years or older from any school in the country. Any interested parties are asked to rap and sing “High Off the Fame” which is free of profanity in the form of a video to be uploaded on YouTube. The video needs to be posted as a video response to the official music video found here http://bit.ly/HighOffTheFameMV. In the description, should be entered, which will also encourage students to support each other. The video with the most “Likes” on YouTube wins the scholarship. A student can enter on behalf of him or herself, or on behalf of their entire academic institution.
