“Sunshine” Music Video: SevvTheArtist (R&B / soul)
Melting sweet-as-honey R&B with deep roots of hip-hop is North Carolina native SevvTheArtist. In her new single “Sunshine”, she compares her partner to daylight at its warmest and most glorious. For the “Sunshine” video (directed by Charles Keyes), she takes to the Santa Monica Pier, and makes sure everything in the clip shines.
“Steppers Party BD Slide” Music Video: Black Dawn (Hip-hop)
Sibling duo Black Dawn (Michael “Apacolips” Muhammad and Thomas “2Slick” Lea) have nestled their way into Chill-Hop, an electic blend of rap and vibrant beats changing up the music scene. They’ve performed at notable venues in the DMV: The Lincoln Theater, Arena Stage, and The D.C. Convention Center. Their new single “Steppers Party BD Slide” showcases Michael and Thomas’s individual personalities, and in the video (directed by The Community) we see those personalities in action, as the brothers perform the newest dance routine, the “BD Slide”, sure to be the next dance craze.
“A Different Man” Music Video: Jim Waneka (Country)
Jim Waneka represents the Colorado towns where he was born and raised, and writes songs that suit his voice’s power, depth, and flexibility. “A Different Man” follows his prior single “I Ride Alone”; set during the long conflict in Afghanistan, it draws from his and his family’s recollections of past American interventions. The video for “A Different Man” (directed by Jim Waneka and Carl Russell) shows his band in action – and soldiers in action, too, and the terrible consequences of war.
