Over the years, we’ve had the pleasure of meeting up with some of our cherished clients to film a video interview that helps viewers get to know the artist as well as learn more about their new music video. Previously called “The HIP Clip”, these videos allow us to help connect artists with the world, as we give some insight and inside information into who they are and the music and videos they make.
Back in 2012, the HIP team sat down with The Lumineers at Austin’s famous South By Southwest music festival. In the interview, the band spoke about what it was like dealing with the extensive attention and notoriety they got from their “Ho Hey” music video and how it took them years of effort to get to an elevated status. Lead singer Wesley also went on to talk about “Ho Hey” was written at a time of struggle in his life and is a call for positive thinking and looking forward to the loud punctuations of life. The band prides itself on the party atmosphere of the song and speaks about how they were excited to play the crowd favorite in concert.
“Ho Hey” went on to become a quadruple-platinum track that made it to the third position of the Billboard Hot 100. The band’s self-titled debut album that featured the song also received critical acclaim from fans and critics alike, reaching a peak position of #2 on the Billboard 200. The band is currently celebrating the release of their third album, III, which is also receiving widespread appreciation and acclaim.
