Hello programming friends, it’s Andy Gesner and the HIP Video Promo staff, proud to bring you a new video that supports a cause we can all get behind. With the recent news that the oil wellhead in the Gulf of Mexico has finally been capped off, people are breathing a slight sigh of relief. The BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has left the entire country devastated for two and a half months, prompting everyone to be more aware of their environment and wanting to help out in any way they can. The band Wilderland now has a feasible option for those looking to do their part, and it’s as simple as watching their video “Fragile Day” and downloading the song for $1.98.

Wilderland is comprised of singer Kat Sanchez and multimedia producer Scott Blum (famous for working with Peter Gabriel and Soundgarden). Ironically enough, Blum wrote “Fragile Day” two years ago, and the oil spill happened around the time he was wrapping up the track in the studio. Wilderland’s video may be directly dedicated to supporting the habitats affected by the oil spill, but it’s also a nod to the importance of constantly being environmentally aware and how we need to come together to fix the damage that’s already been done – oil spill, global warming or otherwise.

The video itself grabs your attention immediately with its cosmic beginning. Sanchez’s hauntingly beautiful vocals kick in just as the camera enters the Earth, and you see images of birds flying, the sun fading and views of the ocean with swimming around. The lyrics of the song are perfectly timed with the visuals of the video, and when Sanchez sings “fragile life” over and over, you see factories with smoke polluting the air, trees cut down all over and, of course, the effects of the oil spill. All in all, Wilderland’s video for “Fragile Day” just further emphasizes the need for us to take care of our environment. This isn’t some artsy, overly done video or some lackadaisical PSA. Watching “Fragile Day” makes you feel genuinely sad, and in the end, you see the Earth rotating literally at the palm of one’s hands. It’s a reiteration that you can do your part, and by watching Wilderland’s video, you’re already halfway there.

As previously mentioned, Wilderland’s “Fragile Day” is solely dedicated to helping out the marine and wildlife habitats in the Gulf Coast. The last thing you see in the video is information for purchasing the song on www.FragileDay.com. Once you download the song for a mere $1.98, 100 percent of the proceeds go to charities (more specifically, The Gulf Restoration Network, EarthShare and The WILD Foundation) that are doing important work to help those habitats affected by the oil spill.

Here at HIP, we’re offering our support straight on to Wilderland and praise their efforts, and we hope you will, too.
