Hello, dear programmers! It’s Andy Gesner and the rest of HIP Video Promo here to prepare you for a second round of contemporary classic rock soulfulness ala the Steve Palmer Band. With the video for “Apparition” still fresh in your mind, the timing of “No Words To Say” could not have been any more perfect. But this is an entirely different dimension of the Steve Palmer Band that you have yet to see as Steve Palmer himself shows his take on a classic rock-type of ballad.
The lovely piano introduction sets off what is sure to be a bit of a heartbreaking song with a stripped down visual interpretation. First, there’s Steve Palmer, sans his backing band, playing in his most natural state: intimately alone in the studio as he sings over and over, “There are no words to say I love you / And there’s nothing I can do / There are no words to say I love you / There’s not a whole lot I can do.” The innate sadness in his words and in his facial expressions are things that cannot be masked.
Adding to the melancholy tone of Steve Palmer’s performance is a story of a young, innocent-looking blonde and her whirlwind romance. You first see her sitting on her windowsill, deeply engaged in her own thoughts, until the object of her infatuation walks up to her house with his guitar in tow. She instantly glows, and the next thing you see are scenes with her guy shot like a dream sequence where they are simply sitting around, enjoying each other’s company. It is a beautiful story of a romance that develops over the course of the video and culminates with a touching kiss and embrace.
The video for “No Words To Say” is minimalist in the best way possible. It’s reflective of the sense of timelessness that the Steve Palmer Band seems to exude. And seeing as how the band is at the forefront of Nashville’s breaking rock scene, it’s hard to ignore the Steve Palmer Band’s efforts in standing out in the crowd.
“No Words To Say” is the second single off of the Steve Palmer Band’s relatively new release, Apparition. Music blogs, such as RealRockNews.com and MuzikReviews.com, have really taken notice to the album. RealRockNews.com noted that the band “[exhibits] just the right mix of classic style and commercial appeal … they will be well received by fans of genuine, old-style rock and roll.” Meanwhile, MuzikReviews.com specifically pointed out that, “Apparition doesn’t sound like a cover album or one band impersonating another. … Palmer’s voice is probably the most interesting point in the album; sometimes he sounds like Morrissey and at others he sounds like Ian Curtis, but mostly, he sounds like Steve Palmer.” It’s this kind of digital praise that will get the Steve Palmer Band far in building a foundation to set off their careers.
We’re thrilled to be working with the Steve Palmer Band again and Steve for bringing this clip our way and having us as a part of the team. You can catch the Steve Palmer Band on their upcoming tour dates opening for the legendary Blues Traveler, so please be in touch if you’d like to catch the show and sit down for a video interview!
